From the SyllabusThis class is inspired by Emi Koyama’s “THE TRANSFEMINIST MANIFESTO.” Though Koyama was not the first to introduce the nomenclature and concept, her term has gained the widest currency. In simplest terms, transfeminism is a category of feminism that applies transgender discourses, polemics, and lens to feminist discourse challenging its cisgendered understandings.
