October 25
I. Reminders and Announcements
II. Midterm Reports
- Please note your next homework assignment. There are no more reading assignments for the next 2 1/2 weeks after today since we move into ePortfolio/website design now.
- Make sure that you bring any one essay/RR with you FULLY REVISED next class--- you do not need to read or write anything new. Proofread and revise a piece that you have already written and come prepared for peers to read it!!! To see an example of what your writing should look like, click here
II. Midterm Reports
- Please make sure you understand your midterm report. You can expect another one like this at the end of the semester.
- If something is incorrect, please bring me the assignment that I missed and I will correct my gradebook. (I had a few papers with no name on them).
- I will return as much work back to you today as I can--- and on Monday.
- Your ePortfolio will keep your official scores now. Go to your homepage, look for this class, and click on the gradebook. Numbers will be input in the next 2 days (RRs are 3 points each so RR #1-12 comes to 36 points of the class). Check back there throughout the semester.
- Extra credit points will be factored at the midterm/ePortfolio.
III. Note-Taking: Michael Kimmel & the Pop Culture Detective
|
|
- Describe one stat that surprised/interested you.
- What do you think about what Kimmel is saying about young men today and why?
- What do you think of Kimmel and why?
- How does Kimmel compare to what you read today?
- How does Kimmel compare to the artifact you brought last class?
IV. Group Discussions
V. Whole Class Discussion
What topics/issues did your group agree & disagree on?
- Choose a facilitator for your small group. It should NOT be someone who has already facilitated. Step up to the plate, yall!
- The facilitator should make sure everyone shares. As each person shares, ask to see who agrees and disagrees.
- The facilitators do not need to force agreement--- don't do that. Just keep a running list on what folks agree on and what they disagree on to bring back to the whole class discussion.
