I am... a woman... a wife... a sister... a student... a lover.... a lesbian... a thinker... a changer...a future mother...a teacher... a friend... a PERSON... I am ME... 

John Jay College ​of Criminal Justice gave me the opportunity to really define myself in ways that I thought I had already figured out. My journey in life has put me on one great big crazy roller coaster. As I play the role of dedicated wife, supportive daughter, gracious sister and witty friend in this amazing movie called MY LIFE, I haven't always been able to maintain an award winning Oscar performance. My life wasn't a fairy tale. My upbringing was tough but it wasn't "Straight Outta Compton" tough either; however it definitely made me who I am today. And for that I am thankful and I don't regret one scene in my life. 

​I started my higher education journey more than ten years ago. Although it was derailed for some time by life's many obstacles, I found my way back. 

John Jay gave me my voice by opening my eyes to issues that society told me didn't matter. My sexuality, hair and color of skin, and my woman-ness were all subjects I strayed from. I have many empowering women around me that inspire me to break down walls and stigmas and be the person that I am today. 

Some of my loves (besides my wife, family and friends of course) in life are reading books and writing short stories that I never really intend on sharing with the outside world. I love music and having 30 second dance parties in my office. I love anything glittery, sparkly, and cheetah print. I try to be a free spirit when ever life calls for it which can be pretty often... and that works great for me.

The Brown Grrlz Project was founded to bring the spotlight and to empower Brown Grrlz. A Brown Grrl is a cis, trans or gender non conforming person of any skin variation, any size, shape or ability, and may be of any religious or spiritual practice. Brown Grrlz are of any sexual orientation: straight, gay, bi, trans or any other orientation unmentioned.
